Courtney's Sour Cherry Fizz

Forget the sticky sweet, syrupy junk that has been ruining summer cocktails for ages. In this recipe sour cherry juice is the tart, sophisticated, and natural star. Pour three ounces of Vodka 14 into a lowball glass over ice. Add two ounces of organic sour cherry juice, available at natural foods markets. Add a squeeze of juice from a fresh organic orange and a dash of bitters, stir thoroughly and top off with a splash of soda. Garnish with a wedge of fresh orange.

Spicy Dog 14

Sometimes an outstanding cocktail is about expanding boundaries. Here we bring together the unlikely flavors of cinnamon and grapefruit, with exceptional results. Start with three ounces of Vodka 14 in a tumbler on ice. Add two ounces of fresh, ruby red grapefruit juice. Stir. Grind fresh cinnamon over the top, and serve with a whole cinnamon stick swizzle and fresh mint leaves.

Sunrise 14

Could it be that the pineapple is naturally adapted to quenching thirst on a hot day? It's surely possible, and here we combine the classic summer cocktail flavor with the rich color and tart finish of pomegranate for a fresh, natural twist on the classic Sunrise. In a tall rocks glass, add three ounces Vodka 14 and three ounces of fresh pineapple juice and stir. Then slowly layer in two ounces of fresh pomegranate juice, allowing it to settle. Garnish with a wedge of fresh pineapple and serve with a straw for sipping.

The 14 Summer Buck

Say what you will about the 1950's, but one thing is for sure: people back then knew how to drink. Take the Vodka Buck, a.k.a. the Moscow Mule, a classic that we dress up for summer with orange and mint: Add two ounces of Vodka 14 and a generous squeeze of fresh orange to a highball glass two-thirds full of cold ginger beer and ice. Muddle in several leaves of fresh mint and stir. Garnish with a slice or orange and a sprig of mint.
